THE Wartime Leadership Podcast: The Resiliency of Devon Wood is now available! Devon is a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) in the United States Air Force. He has recently been assigned as a NCO Academy instructor with the Robert D Gaylor NCO Academy. Sergeant Wood joined the Air Force straight out of high school at the age of 18. His breadth of experience includes time as a telephone maintainer, client systems technician, Military Training Instructor (Drill Instructor), Command Chief Executive, Defense Language Institute and now a Professional Military Education Instructor. He is a husband to Cherie and a father to Madeline (5), Charlotte (4), Josephine (1.5) and Evelyn (7 months).
During this episode, Devon takes us through his definition of Spiritual Resilience and how it manifests in his life. He walks us through marrying and starting a family with his wife while serving in a job structured around working 6 days a week for 10-12 hours a day. Devon shows how his wife’s strength as a mother was evident while he was completing an extremely demanding school during Covid but then to be redirected to another job outside his comfort zone. Devon learned to lean on his spiritual resilience pier while supporting his family throughout the journey.
