THE Wartime Leadership Podcast: The Resiliency of Conner Brew. Conner is a Marine Corps veteran serving as an intelligence and language specialist for just over four years. After leaving the Marines he has continued to serve as a SIGINT program manager with the Virginia National Guard. He has experience as a senior targeting analyst, data scientist, and now as a product architect with WillowTree. Perhaps the GREATEST mission Conner has undertaken since exiting the Marine Corps has been as the Director of Community Outreach at MVMNT Church in Carlottesville, Virginia.
During this episode, Conner defines what spiritual resilience has and continues to look like in his life. He explains why he finds it repulsive to misuse scripture out of context to support a person’s agenda. Conner walks us through how he was diagnosed with persistent depressive disorder after attempting suicide while stationed at Goodfellow AFB, TX. He spent over 1 month in an in-patient facility. Being determined to show depression who was boss, Conner sought the help he saw other Marines and Army brothers and sisters finding while seeking purpose in the cross. He has worked to create a culture of love everywhere he goes, even the mission field in his backyard.
