THE Wartime Leadership Podcast: The Resiliency of Harriet Tubman’s 3rd cousin, David Alston. David’s story reads like a true Hollywood script. David was born Edward Bright. He was adopted at 7 months only to discover, as an adult, that he was not adopted but was abducted by his “adoptive” mother. David knew he was adopted but struggled with his true identity. Who was his mother and who was he? Upon discovering his biological family, David discovered that his biological grandmother and Harriet Tubman were first cousins. This discovery gave new life and meaning to his life and explained his drive and determination to lead people from sorrow and pain and inspire them to understand that anything is possible. David has spoken to individuals, and he has spoken to groups of thousands. David is determined to use wisdom, experiences, and his voice to free others from bondage and lead them to freedom and purpose.
During this episode, David walks us through his definition of Spiritual resilience while taking us on a story book journey of his life. He has over 35-years of experiences as an educator, motivational speaker and public figure. David is the host of The Underground Subway (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-underground-subway/id1518921057). Finally, David is the author of “Blood, Sweat and Cheers” and “Son of Another Mother…the Struggle of Adoption”.
